Friday morning, U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) convened faith leaders from around the Fifth District at Bergen Community College to discuss the problems each congregation faces and how we can come together and make our communities safer and stronger.

“There is so much in the world today that focuses on what divides us – whether it be race, religion, ethnicity, party, or anything else,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “The meeting we had Friday morning was a testament to how we are at our best when we come together to solve problems. I appreciate all the religious and community leaders that came out today to discuss their questions, concerns, and suggestions.”

Gottheimer held a similar summit in March to bring together members of different faiths for a discussion at Ramapo College. He has worked closely with counties, towns, and nonprofits to help apply for and win competitive federal security grants, clawing back our federal tax dollars to fight homegrown terror. In September, Josh was proud to announce $1.8 million from the Department of Homeland Security’s Nonprofit Security Grant Program to help protect our families and our communities from hate-driven crimes.
