Photo Release: Gottheimer Visits Solomon Schechter Day School, Speaks to Students About Problem Solving & Standing Up for the U.S.-Israel Relationship
NEW MILFORD, NJ — U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) visited Solomon Schechter Day School of Bergen County in New Milford, joining the school’s Yom Makhloket L’shem Shamayim (A Day for Constructive Conflict) program. Joined by School Rabbi Efrem Reis, Gottheimer spoke to the Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth Grade classes about his work as Co-Chair of the Problem Solvers Caucus, working across the aisle to find common ground, and bipartisan work to support the U.S.-Israel relationship. Gottheimer also spent time taking questions from students and school professors.
“It’s important to talk to students and Americans of all ages about how to work constructively with those you may disagree with, and how to work across party lines to find common ground. That’s the kind of work we do week in and week out with the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, and how we bring both sides together to stand up for the historic U.S.-Israel relationship,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5). “It was great to be able to visit Solomon Schechter Day School to speak with students and educators about bridging divides, and about how we can work together to make progress and move our communities forward.”
“We were thrilled to welcome Representative Gottheimer to our school today in recognition of 9 Adar, a day of learning how to engage in constructive conflict,” said Steve Freeman, Head of School for Solomon Schechter. “He spoke beautifully to our fifth through eighth-grade students about how people can come together and solve problems when they listen to each other and find common ground – an integral lesson for our students to carry into the future.”
